Froggatt Edge

A call was received to respond to a climber who had been bouldering between the pinnacle and the track at Froggatt.

Edale Mountain Rescue Team cover this area, but they were already committed on their second call out of the day so Buxton team was requested to attend.

Edale sent some available resources to the incident, and when team members arrived on the scene, the casualty had been assessed by an East Midlands Ambulance Service rapid response paramedic and ambulance personnel.

Monsal Dale

Just after 4pm, the team was contacted by Derbyshire Constabulary to an injured walker next to the Monsal Trail just below Monsal Head.

A walker was enjoying an afternoon walk when he slipped and injured his lower leg. When team members arrived on the scene, they administered Entonox as the casualty was encountering a high pain-score. After the pain subsided, the casualty was placed onto a mountain rescue stretcher. Grindsbrook 

As temperatures were rising heading to mid-afternoon, the team was called to a walker who had been reported as collapsing towards the top of Grindsbrook Clough. As with all midweek call-outs, Edale Mountain Rescue Team was also tasked.

Vehicles were quickly despatched from both Dove Base and Buxton Fire Station.

On arriving in Edale, team members were shuttled to the Nag’s Head pub, and then continued on foot. Temperatures were now reaching the low 30s and, with no wind, this made for an extremely unpleasant walk up the valley….

Monyash/Lathkill Dale

Team members were heading to bed after a fun-packed day at the Buxton Carnival when they were called out.

A group of walkers had been enjoying Lathkill Dale when one of the group aggravated an old ankle injury.

The group attempted to walk the casualty back to the road and their car but was making extremely slow progress. A local dog walker met the group and raised the alarm!

As team members were arriving at the RV point, the casualty had managed to reach the road….

Grindsbrook 

Team called out to a walker who had got lost on Wild Moor, Goyt Valley.They were staying in Buxton for a couple of days and had decided to have a walk around the Goyt Valley. They started off on a footpath which then faded out. They walked to a high point to see if they could find a direction to follow but became more disoriented. They rang Derbyshire Police and asked for our assistance. They were soon located, given warm clothing and walked off to a waiting vehicle.
