Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by the East Midlands Ambulance Service for assistance at Brushfield Hough in Taddington Dale following a report of an injured hillwalker.

The casualty, a 47 year old lady from Gedling, Nottinghamshire had slipped whilst walking a footpath to Monsal Dale and sustained a fractured ankle.   She was treated on site by an ambulance service paramedic, lifted onto a mountain rescue stretcher and then carried to Brushfield Hough Farm.  Here she was transferred to the rescue team ambulance and conveyed down the farm track to the …

Macclesfield Old Road, Buxton

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by East Midlands Ambulance Service following the report of an injured off road motorcyclist on the old road from Buxton towards The Cat & Fiddle.  Whilst this track is still technically a road the surface is in such a state that it is only accessible by 4 x 4 vehicles.

The rider was treated at the scene by paramedics from the East Midlands Ambulance Service before team members carried him on a mountain rescue stretcher to the ambulance waiting on smooth tarmac at the Buxton end.

Shutlingsloe

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to rendezvous in Macclesfield Forest following a report of a walking accident on the path leading to Shutlingsloe.  It was a beautiful crisp winter’s day and overnight frost had left the paths covered in a film of ice.

A 53 year old lady walker slipped and sustained a suspected broken ankle.  Just a few minutes after the accident a team member happened to be walking passed and was able to render immediate assistance.   The call-out system was activated and the North West Ambulance Service …

Chrome Hill, Dowel Dale.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called out on Boxing Day afternoon to the Staffordshire / Derbyshire border following a call for assistance.

A man and woman were out walking on Chrome Hill, near Longnor in very windy conditions when they became separated.  After searching for his walking partner to no avail the male phoned for assistance.

Eleven team members responded and were en-route to Chrome Hill when the lady was located in nearby Longnor safe and well.  The team was stood down.

High Wheeldon, Earl Sterndale.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by Derbyshire police following the report from a Cheshire walking group of an accident on Wheeldon Hill, Earl Sterndale.

A lady had slipped on the wet hillside and sustained a suspected fracture ankle.  Team members rendezvoused at High Wheeldon Farm for the climb to the hill top casualty site.  Following assessment and treatment by team members the lady was placed on a rescue stretcher before being carried down to a waiting ambulance for transport to a Macclesfield hospital.
