Mam Tor

The Joint Snatch Squad of Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams was called out following reports of an injured walker in the Mam Tor area above Castleton.

The casualty was located on the old road underneath the face of Mam Tor, having been blown over by the wind and sustained a nasty fracture dislocation of his ankle.  An Edale MRT doctor and paramedic were rapidly on scene to administer morphine initially and then some stronger sedative to allow reduction and relocation of the ankle.

Mam Tor

Whilst attending to the previous incident in Chee Dale a second accident was reported on Mam Tor near Castleton.

Eight Buxton team members were redirected to Mam Tor and support was requested from Kinder M.R.T.

A female walker about 50 metres down from Mam Nick suffered a displaced ankle fracture.  Initial teatment was carried out by an East Midlands Ambulance paramedic.  The lady was then evacuated on a rescue stretcher to the waiting ambulance by team members from both Buxton and Kinder M.R.Teams.

Chee Dale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to an incident in Chee Dale, near Millers Dale on Bank Holiday Monday. 

A 71 year old male hill walker from Chesterfield had slipped whilst walking below Chee Tor Buttress and fallen about four metres into the River Wye sustaining a serious head injury.

The casualty was treated on site by a team doctor, team members and the Derbyshire Leicestershire Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) doctor.  The air ambulance had to land some distance from the incident site and due to the serious nature of the casualty’s …

Cumberland Clough

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by North West Ambulance Service to rendezvous at Clough House Farm in Wildboarclough  following a report of an injured walker in the Cumberland Brook area.

The casualty a 28 year old female from Grappenhall, Warrington, was descending towards the Cumberland Brook when she slipped and sustained a lower leg injury.

Sixteen team members responded to support the ambulance crew.  The casualty was quickly located and treated on site by ambulance service paramedics which included pain relief and splinting.  She was placed in a warm casualty bag …

Goyt Valley

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called by Derbyshire Police to assist in a search for a vulnerable female from Whaley Bridge.

The weather was clear and cold causing concern for the lady’s well-being.  Thirty-six team members assisted by three search & rescue dogs commenced a detailed search around the Goyts Lane area.  In the early hours of New Year’s Eve a Coastguard Search Helicopter was also called in from Hull to use specialist night / heat seeking equipment.
