Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called after two students from Manchester became lost in the mist n the south side of Kinder Scout.  Unusually they “Googled “for mountain rescue and found a number for Edale MRT base.  Fortunately the base was staffed and, after taking details, the incident was correctly rerouted via the police and the duty P.D.M.R.O. Incident Controller.

Kinder Scout

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called following the report from two walkers and their dog that they were lost in the cloud somewhere around the Jacobs Ladder area.  Whilst Buxton MRT responded with fifteen members to start the search, Kinder and Edale MRTs were placed on standby in case the incident developed.

Fortunately the two were met by two other walkers with a better sense of direction (and possibly a map and compass!) who led them down Jacobs Ladder.  After meeting team members the two walkers were taken by Land Rover back to Edale.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called-out following a report from a 49 year old lady fell runner from Leicester who telephoned the police after becoming lost on Kinder Scout in freezing conditions.

Team members contacted the lady however the details were very sparse and she had little charge left on her phone. Buxton Team rendezvoused at Edale and deployed further technology to ascertain her position which identified her likely location as the western side of Kinder Plateau.  Kinder Team were then called out to cover that area.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called to assist in a search for two female walkers from Sheffileld stranded on Kinder Scout.

The walkers had been on Kinder since lunchtime, climbing Grindsbrook from Edale, with the intention of visiting Kinder Downfall.  It was whilst crossing the moor on the return journey that they got into difficulties.  One of the women lost a boot when she became stuck in thigh deep peat.  Escaping from that she continued with one foot protected only by a plastic bag.  Progress was slow and with the onset of darkness they they called for help.
