High Wheeldon, Earl Sterndale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called at 1.45 pm on Sunday 18th June in order to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service dealing with the report of a paraglider crash landing on High Wheeldon near to Earl Sterndale.
Fifteen team members rendezvoused at Wheeldon Trees Farm for the 100 metre climb in full sun towards the trig point.   A 46 year old man, from Etwall, Derby, had sustained a lower leg injury on landing and was now in considerable pain.  Ambulance staff were first on scene to provide pain …

Churn Hole, Deep Dale, Topley Pike

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called at 2.10 pm on Saturday 17th June to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service dealing with a 69 year old gentleman who had collapsed whilst walking near to Deep Dale, Topley Pike.
The gentleman was on a walking holiday with his wife when the incident occurred, probably induced by the extreme temperature on the hottest day of the year so far.  East Midlands Ambulance Service crew were first on scene and rendered treatment to the gentleman.   B.M.R.T. was fundraising in Buxton when the call was …

Grindsbrook, Edale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called at 1.40 pm on Thursday 15th June following a third party report to police of an injured walker in the top of Crowden Brook in the Edale Valley.
Nineteen team members responded and a five were already climbing Crowden Brook from Upper Booth when another call was received reporting the casualty to actually be in Grindsbrook.   Incident control relocated to Edale Station car park and team members diverted to start climbing Grindsbrook Clough.   Knowing the casualty to be in the upper …

Windgather Rocks, Kettleshulme.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called at 8.00 pm on Wednesday evening to assist North West Ambulance Service dealing with a fallen rock climber at Windgather Rocks near Kettleshulme.  At the time Kinder M.R.T. was training at it’s base in Hayfield and also dispatched nine members and equipment to assist.  However, on arrival of Buxton’s first members, it became apparent that only limited man-power would be required and Kinder M.R.T. was stood down.

Ravensdale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called in the late afternoon of Saturday 10th June following a report to police of three young people trapped beneath a dry waterfall in Ravensdale near Cressbrook.
Eighteen team members responded quickly to the call rendezvousing at the tiny hamlet of Ravensdale Cottages.  The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award silver expedition party of seven from an Oldham school were walking from Eyam towards Haddon Hall when the incident occurred.
