Cats Tor, Goyt Valley

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team’s carnival plans were abruptly disrupted when East Midlands Ambulance Service requested assistance on the summit of Cats Tor on the Pym Chair to Shining Tor footpath.
One team vehicle, with several members on board, broke out of the Buxton Carnival parade and another vehicle was deployed from it’s station at Buxton Fire & Rescue Station.   A walker was reported to have collapsed whilst on the route to the Cat & Fiddle.   East Midland’s staff were already on scene when members arrived at the site and the 25 year old casualty from Manchester was receiving treatment.  She …

Jacob's Ladder, Upper Booth

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called at 5.20 p.m. on Monday 3rd July following a report of a party of walkers descending the steps on Jacob’s Ladder trying to carry one of their number who had a leg injury.  Details were uncertain and consequently only a limited number of members were called to make an investigation.
Despite a search of Jacob’s Ladder, and other routes with steps, no trace of the party was found.
The team members stood down and returned to base.

Edale Cross.

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called at 3.30 p.m.on Sunday 2nd July to assist Kinder M.R.T. following the report of an injured 60 year old female walker on Swines Back near to Edale Cross.
Kinder M.R.T. was already in the same area dealing with an unrelated incident and dispatched a vehicle up the track from Coldwell Clough.  The casualty was quickly located and was then assisted to the rescue vehicle from where she was transported back to Hayfield by Kinder M.R.T.

Footpath near to Limestone Way Farm, Peak Forest.

At 2.00 p.m. on Friday 30th June Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called by Derbyshire police following the report of an injured walker on a public footpath at Dam Cliff near to Limestone Farm at Peak Forest.
The mature lady was one of an organised of group of walkers which was nearly at the end of its day’s walk when the accident occurred.  She slipped whilst negotiating a stile and suffered a knee injury.  The first team members arriving were able to take a vehicle virtually to the incident site where the injury was assessed.  The lady was then placed in …

Monsal Trail.

Thursday evening is the team’s regular training night and this Thursday (29/06) was no exception with the team dealing with a simulated injured climber on Hen Cloud near The Roaches.  Training was coming to a conclusion when at 10.00 p.m. the team received information of an injured man on the Monsal Trail.
Packing up wet ropes a little quicker than usual, twenty-four members made their way to the rendezvous point at Miller’s Dale Station.  From there members were ferried in to the site by team vehicles.  However, the casualty, a 36 year old man from Sheffield, had made his own down …
