Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called at 12.30 .m. on Thursday 14th September as back up Edale MRT which was attending an injured walker on a footpath near to the village of Calver.
An elderly man was descending a steep, muddy footpath through the woods when a simple slip resulted in a twisted and painful knee.  Edale M.R.T. was first on scene and started the casualty assessment and treatment.  Buxton members were just starting to arrive in Calver when a second incident was reported that was going to strain already thin resources.  Four Buxton members stopped to assist at the Calver incident …

Crowden Brook, Kinder Scout

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called at 3.50 p.m. on Wednesday 13th September by East Midlands Ambulance Service following a report of an injured walker in the middle reaches of Crowden Brook on the southern edge of Kinder Scout.
A fifty five year old lady from Derby husband had been walking with her husband in the clough when a slip resulted a suspected fracture of of her right leg at the knee.  Eighteen team members who responded to the call quickly climbed Crowden Brook with the necessary equipment and found …

Deep Dale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called at 12.00 on Saturday 10th September following a report of a schoolgirl having a panic attack in Deep Dale.
The young girl, from a school in Nottingham, was participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme at the time of the attack.  They group had descended into Deep Dale from near King Sterndale, Buxton and then started to climb out on the steep Mid-shires Way path adjacent to Hobs Hurst cave.  The anxiety attack was brought on by the steepness of the dale and the slippery …

Kinder Scout Plateau

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called out as part of the four team Kinder Scout Search Pre-plan at 7.45 p.m. Tuesday 5th September.
A solo male walker had reported himself lost on Kinder whilst walking between Edale and Snake Summit on the Pennine Way.  There had been significant low cloud on the plateau for most of the day making navigation difficult for those without adequate local knowledge.  With the threat of darkness looming the man decided to call for help.  Fortunately the man happened to be in one of the few …

Monsal Trail

An early call for Buxton Mountain Rescue Team when at 9.15 a.m. on Sunday 3rd September Debyshire police requested that the team attend the Monsal Trail following the report of an injured cyclist.
The casualty was a 50 year old man from the U.S.A. in the U.K. to take part in the Rapha, Manchester to London, charity ride raising money for “Ambitous about Autism”.  Around 300 riders set off at dawn from Manchester Velodrome for the 220 mile route which cuts through the Peak District, and the Chilterns on the …
