Dove Holes

Buxton, Kinder and Derby mountain rescue teams were contacted at 10am along with search dogs to assist Derbyshire Police with the search for a man who had been missing since the early morning. The teams were assembling at Buxton Team’s Dove Holes base and search plans were being drawn up in consultation with the police and the local quarry manager, when the missing person was found near houses by friends and family. He was able to walk to safety and was attended to by a team paramedic for injuries sustained during his absence. He was taken to Macclesfield General Hospital for a check-up.

Monsal Trail, Millers Dale

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team together with members of Edale M.R.T. were called by Derbyshire police on Saturday night to rendezvous at Miller’s Dale Station to assist officers dealing with a situation on the Monsal Trail.
A Derbyshire Police spokesman later said: “At around 6.40 pm on Saturday, October 14, we were called to Monsal Trail in Limekiln where we found a 41-year-old man in an unresponsive condition.”
“The man was taken to Chesterfield Royal Hospital where he was pronounced dead”.

Mam Tor

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called together with members of Edale M.R.T. following the report of a man having collapsed whilst climbing Mam Tor.
The 61 year old man from London was on holiday with his family and had climbed about half way up the southern ridge of the shale outcrop when he began to feel unwell with possible chest problems.   A total of nineteen members from the two rescue teams rendezvoused near to Blue John Cavern for the climb to the casualty site.   Following treatment by team medics the man …

Castle Naze

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team received a call at it’s Dove Holes Base on Monday (09/10/17) evening from a concerned resident who lives below Castle Naze Crag.
He had been watching two lights near to the top of the crag that hadn’t moved for over an hour.  Given the unpleasant weather conditions and as it had been dark for some time, he was now concerned for their welfare.  Before calling 999 for the police he decided to give the base a call on the off-chance someone might be there.  Fortunately team …

Kinder and Bleaklow search

Greater Manchester Police had received a call from a man who, having left Edale at 9.30 a.m, was now having trouble navigating off the final stage of his day’s walk and requesting help.  With little other information to work on and with continuing poor weather conditions, four rescue teams and four search & rescue dogs were called out.
