Teggs Nose Search

Twenty one team members, our control vehicle (Mobile 3) and the Hilux (Mobile 1) responded to a callout to assist Cheshire Police and Cheshire Search and Rescue to search for a missing person. The team was eventually stood down as the missing person was found safe and well, outside of our initial search area.

Kinder Search

The Team was called to search for a family walking on the Kinder plateau who reported themselves as lost.
Initial attempts to locate the missing couple by the team leading the search were not successful and the search was therefore escalated to four teams, Buxton, Kinder, Edale and Glossop assisted by search dogs. A subsequent attempt to locate them using the SARLOC application was successful, and the couple who were approximately 400 metres north of Kinder Low just off the Pennine Way, were found and accompanied to safety by members from Kinder team

Higger Tor

Buxton team members had just returned to their fundraising duties in Castleton when a second call came in to assist Edale team with a fallen climber at Burbage North. Seven team members were dispatched and assisted Edale with the evacuation of a male climber from below Higger Tor up to the waiting ambulance at Upper Burbage Bridge car park.

Castleton

Whilst taking part in Buxton MRT’s annual Christmas street collection in Castleton, the first of three calls for the day materialised. The team were approached by a passer-by about a 52 year old lady who had collapsed near to the Visitor Centre.  Her friends had vitally put her in the recovery position immediately.  After initial assessment by a team first-aider, and a few concerning moments she slowly improved following treatment with oxygen and insulating from a cold day in a casualty bag.  She was then assisted into the Visitors Centre who kindly allowed us to use their store room to …

Stanage Edge

Six Buxton Mountain Rescue Team members responded to assist Edale Mountain Rescue Team with the rescue of a male climber who had dislocated his right shoulder whilst climbing in the Black Hawk area of Stanage Edge. The 22 year old climber from Tring in Hertfordshire was given pain relief before being carried on a mountain rescue stretcher to the roadside. He was taken by an EMAS ambulance to the Northern General Hospital for further treatment.
