Incident report
Buxton Mountain Rescue team called to assist East Midlands Ambulance Service following the report of a woman having slipped nearly forty feet. The lady had been walking on a steep limestone path made very slippery with moss and recent rain when she slipped down an embankment in the wooded valley. A tree arrested the fall which could otherwise have been more serious. 
Locating the casualty, a mature lady from Eyam, proved difficult in the valley with the steep sides hampering radio and mobile phone communications. Initial treatment for a shoulder and rib injuries was by East Midlands paramedics but the difficult position of the casualty meant that the stretcher had to hauled upwards on a rope-system before it could be carried to a waiting air-ambulance for an onwards a flight to a Derby hospital.
The rescue team wishes to express its gratitude for the assistance of a local man who helped with directing team vehicles and to two walkers on holiday from London who helped with carrying equipment to the incident site.

Hello I am the partner of Pam who you rescued. She suffered a broken collar bone and has potentially cracked ribs. A&E discharged her the same evening and we got home to my place in Wensley at about 11.15pm. We visited the fracture clinic on the 16th and more xrays proved that the back was OK. She has had considerable pain but that has eased a little today. Getting out of bed is the big challenge. When she is walking about it is OK but the getting to vertical is the problem.
At least she is alive and did not fall further, I think that would have been recovery rather than rescue.
