Incident report
Immediately following a previous call-out, Buxton team called to the golf course in Buxton.
A 25 year old male from Hazel Grove, Stockport, had been sledging in an area known locally as the “Cresta Run”, when he sustained a suspected fracture/dislocation to his right ankle. He was treated on site by ambulance service paramedics, including splinting and pain relief, placed into the rescue team’s vacuum mattress, and loaded onto a mountain rescue stretcher and sledged, under control, to the golf club house.
The casualty was transferred into a land ambulance and taken to Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport, for further treatment.
A team spokesperson said that both incidents were made more difficult with snow and ice covering the access roads, and weather conditions of deep lying snow, and continual light drifting falling snow creating poor visibility and a very cold wind.
