Incident report
An early morning call for both Buxton and Edale Mountain Rescue Teams. Search dogs teams from Buxton, and from Glossop, also attended.
A vulnerable male, 20-30 years from the Northampton area had been reported missing from home. Derbyshire Police had located his vehicle in the entrance to Horseshoe Quarry at Stoney Middleton.
Rescue team personnel and search dogs were deployed into the quarry and the steep wooded surrounds. Due to the number of caves and mines in the area, Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation were called upon to conduct searches underground.
The missing man was located on steep ground by a search dog and his handler. He was cold and wet, but otherwise safe and well. However, he was taken to the Chesterfield Royal Hospital for additional checks.
