Incident report

Buxton Mountain Rescue Team was called to the Upper Booth area, near Edale on Saturday afternoon, following reports of an injured walker.   The location of the casualty was unclear, but thought to be above Jacobs Ladder.

We located a 20 year old male from Sheffield, taking part in a Duke of Edinburgh award expedition.  He had slipped and sustained a suspected fracture/dislocation to his left ankle.

The youg man was treated on site by team personnel, including splinting and pain relief, and placed on a stretcher for the manual evacuation of some 1.5 kilometers to Lee Farm in Upper Booth. From there he was taken into a waiting land ambulance, and transferred onward to the Northern General Hospital, Sheffield, for further treatment.
