Incident report
On a dark evening, police alerted Buxton Mountain Rescue Team that a rock climber in Chee Dale had reported loosing contact with his two friends. The climbers were on the classic Plum Buttress and, although it was thought that the two young men had completed the route, they had disappeared in the darkness.
A small search party entered Chee Dale from Miller’s Dale to drive through the tunnels whilst another went to Topley Pike lay-by on the A6, the nearest road access to the top of Plum Buttress. The three climbers soon emerged from the darkness of the dale having managed to re-locate each other. The group of three from Buxton had been making the most of the late summer sunshine and the two climbers had finished the climb safely. However darkness fell leaving them without lighting until they met up with their friend again.
