Incident report
Early on Monday morning 18 members of the Buxton and Edale joint snatch squad responded to a call to assist a 64 year old walker. A simple slip had resulted in a suspected fracture to the right ankle for the local man from Buxton.
An air-ambulance was just approaching the scene as team members arrived but the helicopter was unable to land on the steep sides of Mam Tor. So it was up to the rescue team members to carry the casualty in the old fashioned way before loading him into a land ambulance.
Photo: In bright sunny weather a team paramedic and a first-aider treat the casualty before he was carefully carried down to the old Mam Tor road.

My Father would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who assisted in his rescue. A daily hill walker, he is astonished that such a silly slip has resulted in a displaced and broken ankle. He hopes to have his leg fixed friday (swelling permitted) and will be along to Dove Holes as soon as they let him free! Once again thanks to everyone within the team for their dedication and skill, you do such a fantastic job. Also, great thanks to the kind lady who came to his assistance, without whom he may still be sunbathing up there!
