Incident report
A couple enjoying a weekend away in the Peak District National Park had ventured out from their B&B to explore the delights of Lathkill Dale. Dusk soon descended on the valley and the walkers found themselves disorientated as the valley got darker.
With a torch, they managed to find some shelter and call for assistance by contacting the Police via the SOS function on their mobile phone.
The What Three Words location initially placed the casualties some four miles away. A more accurate location was established, when the phone signal improved, using Phonefind technology.
An initial section of four mountain rescue personnel was dispatched and walked into the valley from the Monyash end of the Dale.
As a second section was about to be tasked with walking along the valley from Over Haddon, the first section located the couple.
After an initial medical assessment, the casualties were walked back to the team’s control vehicle for a hot drink. Then the police repatriated the couple to the comfort of the B&B and a hot shower.
We wish the walkers all the best and hope they continue to enjoy their weekend break.
