Incident report
The team was called out early afternoon today to a location on the Gritstone Trail in Teggs Nose Country Park, near Macclesfield. In view of the location, volunteers from both Buxton Mountain Rescue Team and Cheshire Search and Rescue responded alongside North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust (NWAS).
The incident was coordinated via the Cheshire Police Rural Crime Team, who were first on the scene.
On arrival, the teams assisted the NWAS and Police and set about organising the casualty evacuation using Cheshire Search and Rescue’s stretcher. The casualty, who had experienced a medical event was carefully placed on the stretcher and kept warm, for the evacuation along the paths and through the woodlands in the Country Park to the awaiting ambulance for assessment.
This was a good example of emergency organisations working together in difficult terrain to deliver the best care possible. We wish the casualty a quick recovery and hope the casualty will be able to again enjoy walks in the countryside soon.
Many thanks to the members of the public who stayed with the casualty until the emergency services arrived, and to Cheshire East Countryside Ranger Jim, who ensured the gates and access facilities were made easier for the evacuation.
The teams returned to their respective bases and cleaned down the equipment used, ready for the next call out.
