Incident report
While out walking in the river valley close to Miller’s Dale a couple found themselves off their chosen path and on steep, slippery ground in the Chee Tor area.
Another party were able to offer help to one of the walkers, but the other remained in a potentially precarious position.
A 999 call was made which was passed to Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.
A team vehicle and members arrived at Miller’s Dale carpark to drive along the trail, when it was flagged down by one of the walkers who had assisted the stranded party. All involved had been able to extricate themselves from the steep ground and make their way back to the trail to meet the team.
After ensuring they were fit and well the couple were able to make their way back to their car and continue with the rest of their day. Always a great outcome when our casualties are found safe!
We are very grateful to the couple who assisted the stranded walkers in the early stages of the incident and hope they enjoyed the rest of their visit to the Peak District National Park.
