Incident report
Whilst enjoying a walk on Mam Tor a walker slipped on muddy ground sustaining a very painful upper arm injury preventing further progress on the hill. A 999 call was made to the Police, which was passed to the Mountain Rescue Duty Controller.
After establishing the site of the incident Edale Mountain Rescue Team and Buxton Mountain Rescue Teams were called out and made their way to the scene. Initial medical care was given by one of the team’s paramedics, while the stretcher was made ready for the evacuation back to the road head. After providing pain relief, the casualty was helped onto the stretcher and was soon back at the team vehicles to wait for the East Midlands Ambulance Service and onward transfer to hospital.
We wish the casualty a speedy recovery and a prompt return to complete one of the Peak District National Park’s most scenic routes.
The team is also very grateful for the support of passing walkers who helped in the early stages of the incident.
