Incident report
The third call out of the day for the mrt volunteers came in just after 5.00 pm.
A couple had been completing the circular walk from Castleton, around the Great Ridge and Mam Tor when one tumbled while walking downhill with their dog, sustaining a very painful injury to their lower leg.
Team members from both Edale Mountain Rescue Team and Buxton MRT made their way to the slopes just to the west of Peak Cavern to provide medical treatment to the patient and arrange the stretcher evacuation back to the road. The casualty was given pain relief before being placed onto a mountain rescue stretcher and sledged, with a back rope, down the slope to the path. From there it was a short carry to the village and the waiting land ambulance and our colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance Service.
In what turned out to be a “busy” day, we hope all the casualties have a speedy recovery and return to the area to complete their walks in the Peak District National Park.
