Incident report
Whilst out enjoying the countryside around Monsal Dale, a visitor to the area was overcome by a medical event and was unable to complete the walk. Another member of their party made a 999 call to request help, and after establishing the location of the casualty, response team vehicles were dispatched to the site. As these vehicles arrived at the Monsal Head rendezvous point, other team members made their way to the casualties location to begin the initial medical assessment and prepare an evacuation plan.
As this was a mid-week callout, colleagues from Edale Mountain Rescue Team were also on scene to help in case a stretcher carry was required. It was however possible to get one of the Teams response vehicles onto the trail and close to the casualty, saving a long stretcher carry.
The casualty was taken to their vehicle for the onward journey home with other members of the party.
