Incident report
The second call out of the day came in at just past 4 o’clock, following a call from East Midlands Ambulance Service. Whilst riding a mobility scooter up the track along Tideswell Dale, the driver of the vehicle fell off sustaining a painful injury to the hip.
Family members and passing walkers were able to contact the emergency services despite problems with the mobile phone signal. While team members began to arrive at Millers Dale car park, a response vehicle was dispatched to search along the lane towards Litton Mill. A family member flagged the vehicle down to give an indication of the casualty’s location.
On scene, a paramedic from East Midlands Ambulance Service was already treating the casualty, assessing the extent of the injuries, and providing pain relief. The patient was then placed carefully onto a mountain rescue stretcher and carried to the road for a closer examination in an ambulance before onward transfer to hospital and further treatment.
Team members then cleaned all equipment used before re-packing the vehicles.
Our best wishes go to the casualty for a speedy recovery, and our thanks go to the members of the public who helped during the initial stages of the incident.
