Incident report
While out enjoying a trip to the Castleton area a member of a walking group fell, sustaining injuries to the upper body and shoulder. Derbyshire Constabulary were contacted, and as often happens mid-week, both Edale Mountain Rescue Team and Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were contacted and called to the incident.
Vehicles from each team rendezvoused at Lose Hill Farm from where equipment was deployed to a point just below the summit of the ridge. Pain relief and other treatment was provided to the casualty while the stretcher was prepared, along with a vacuum mattress to secure the walker during the carry-off.
Members of both teams then carried the casualty down the track and into the care of our colleagues from East Midlands Ambulance Service.
We wish the walker a full and swift recovery, and our thanks go to the members of the walking group who handled the incident until our arrival, and to the owners of Lose Hill Farm for allowing us to park team vehicles there during the incident.
