Incident report
A walker was enjoying the lovely hot sunny bank holiday weather in Lathkill Dale. While stopping for a snack, and making the most of the peace and tranquillity, a rock dislodged and landed on one of the walkers’ feet, causing a painful injury.
As they were unable to make any further progress themselves, they called East Midlands Ambulance Service. Due to the remote location, Your Local Air Ambulance WNDLR was tasked to the scene.
On their arrival it was obvious that the casualty would need specialist help, to effect the extraction of the casualty so they called Buxton Mountain Rescue Team for assistance.
On arrival, team members made their way down to the casualty location and, after treatment by the air ambulance doctor, the casualty was placed on a mountain rescue stretcher and carried up out of the Dale to a waiting land ambulance.
The team would like to thank the owners of Mill Farm, Haddon Grove, for providing us with some chilled refreshments to cool down after the hot carry out of the Dale.
The vehicles and equipment were cleaned, as per our covid-19 protocols, ready for the next callout.
