Incident report
Team members were diverted from the previous call out to assist Edale MRT with a call out to assist an injured person in Grindsbrook Clough.
A small section of three was initially dispatched from Edale village and made their way to the casualty, who was situated at halfway rocks. A walker had taken a fall and had injured their right ankle. The first Casualty Carer on scene assessed the ankle and administered strong pain relief. A box splint was applied to stabilise the ankle, before the casualty was packaged and placed on a mountain rescue stretcher.
Due to the difficult location of the casualty on the steep, rocky path, a hand-over-hand system was required to safely move the stretcher onto the main Grindsbrook path. The casualty was then transported down the valley and handed over to East Midlands Ambulance Service.
It was then time to clean the kit following the team’s Covid-19 procedures.
The team sends its best wishes to the casualty for a speedy recovery.
