Incident report
Two walkers out for the day along the Monsal Trail were rescued by the team from steep ground to the side of the path leading from the viaduct to Monsal Head.
Derbyshire Constabulary responded to a 999 call which gave details of where the casualties had slipped and tumbled from the path in the vicinity of the Monsal Trail viaduct.
Buxton Mountain Rescue Team were called to carry out the rescue. A response vehicle and a small section of team members who were at Castleton fund-raising, were immediately sent to Monsal Head and met other team members and vehicles who were arriving on scene.
When the casualties were located, a rope system was set up to bring the two casualties back to the safety of the path, where a paramedic was able to assess whether further medical treatment was necessary.
Thankfully neither casualty was worse for wear after their tumble, and were able to continue with their visit to the Peak District National Park.
