‘Urbanised’ Team Training For Buxton Mountain Rescue
Buxton Mountain Rescue Team carry out almost 100 training sessions each year, to ensure that every team member is as fully equipped as possible to be able to provide help and assistance when required.
Most of the training is carried out in rural locations across the Peak District, and sometimes much further afield. Training typically covers a variety of different topics, including communications testing, search techniques, rope work and rescue recovery, first aid and a number of scenarios. However, our next session will see Buxton Mountain Rescue team members training very close to home, as the training will take place in Buxton itself.
The team will be carrying out a missing person search in Buxton town centre, and will include local parks and green spaces. The aim of the exercise is to ensure that the team are prepared to respond effectively to searches in more ‘urban’ environments than we typically operate in.
If you see the team out and about, it is a training exercise, but don’t let that stop you saying hello and having a chat as you see them.
If you do miss us on Thursday evening (2nd May), we will also be in Spring Gardens, Buxton, on Bank Holiday Monday (6th May), so please pop along and learn more about the voluntary work of the Buxton Mountain Rescue Team.
