Incident report
Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called together with members of Edale M.R.T. following the report of a man having collapsed whilst climbing Mam Tor.
The 61 year old man from London was on holiday with his family and had climbed about half way up the southern ridge of the shale outcrop when he began to feel unwell with possible chest problems. A total of nineteen members from the two rescue teams rendezvoused near to Blue John Cavern for the climb to the casualty site. Following treatment by team medics the man was gently carried by stretcher down to the road to await the arrival of an East Midlands ambulance and onward transport to hospital.
The team members express their thanks to the members of the public who first noticed the incident and made the initial report. The attendance and assistance of a volunteer First Responder from Bakewell was also appreciated.
