Incident report
Thursday evening is the team’s regular training night and this Thursday (29/06) was no exception with the team dealing with a simulated injured climber on Hen Cloud near The Roaches. Training was coming to a conclusion when at 10.00 p.m. the team received information of an injured man on the Monsal Trail.
Packing up wet ropes a little quicker than usual, twenty-four members made their way to the rendezvous point at Miller’s Dale Station. From there members were ferried in to the site by team vehicles. However, the casualty, a 36 year old man from Sheffield, had made his own down way onto the trail from the accident site at the top of a steep embankment. The man had suffered a potential dislocated shoulder when he slipped on the wet limestone.
Team paramedics tendered to the man’s injury which included the administration pain killing drugs. By now, most team members had stood down and returned to sorting wet climbing kit leaving just few to guide an East Midlands Ambulance to the casualty site and assist with loading the stretcher.
