Buxton hosts regional controllers’ and leaders’ day
Last Sunday around thirty rescue team leaders and incident controllers from across the Peak District assembled at Buxton Fire & Rescue Station for a morning of discussion and idea sharing.
It was just one in a regular series of meetings held to ensure that all the independent teams are adopting best practices and working to the same standards. Mountain rescue is continuing to develop and these meetings ensure that new technology and ideas are shared for the benefit of all casualties wherever in the region an incident occurs
The day kicked off with a high quality, if not too healthy, breakfast that was produced on a tight budget and with the only frying pan in house.
The mountain rescue teams were joined by members of Derbyshire Cave Rescue Organisation and by the professionals from Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service. Each organisation was able to demonstrate the latest developments in its equipment showed us around some of their equipment.
The event finished just in time for members to return to their respective operational areas before a number of rescue incidents broke out across the Peak District.
