Incident report
Buxton Mountain Rescue Team called following a report to police of a man having been injured whilst walking in the Woolpacks area on Kinder Scout. The 54 year old gentleman from Clay Cross had been walking with a friend when stumble resulted in a suspected fracture of the ankle.
Dense low cloud prevented any assistance from a helicopter so team members had to carry the stretcher and medical equipment up to the accident site. Following treatment and splinting by team members the casualty was placed into an insulated bag before being strapped onto a rescue stretcher. The two kilometre evacuation then commenced along the ridge to the west of Crowden Brook and down to Upper Booth.
Stoically, the casualty declined an ambulance and elected to travel to hospital in his own car driven by his friend.

Yes, that was me. Thank you to the whole team. Thank God for your presence. Correct on the diagnosis, fractured ankle.
Hi, tried to unsuccessfully post my thanks on Sunday, not sure why it didn’t get there. Anyway, thanks t the whole team, it did prove to be a fracture just above the plates inserted from my last accident in 2013.
The fantastic, yet again, rescue was very much appreciated, you people do a brilliant job.
