Radio 4. Thursday 3.00pm
In late June this year BBC Radio 4’s “Open Country” program met up with team members at Pooles Cavern, Buxton.
The team was about to embark on one of its regular evening training exercises, on this occasion, in Grinlow Woods, Buxton. Willing “victims” were secreted about the country park waiting for enthusiastic rescue members to find them and treat their injuries. Especially recruited to help for the night were Open Country presenter, Helen Mark and producer, Martin Poyntz-Roberts.
It was a chance meeting at one of the local village fete’s which the team attended that resulted in the BBC asking if they could come along to a training session and learn more about the work of mountain rescue.
Following a short briefing the team and the radio presenters were committed to the hillside and …………., well, rather than read about it, tune into BBC Radio 4 Open Country on Thursday (3rd Sept.) about 3.00 pm and listen to what went on. If you miss it, it’ll be repeated at some un earthly hour on Saturday morning.
