Team Recognises the Deeds of Others
On Wednesday 23 rd July, a group of young people from Nottingham NCS (National Citizenship Service) were coming to the end of a full day of activities on the Staffordshire Roaches when they came upon an elderly man who had sustained a twisted ankle. The man was in some pain and rather distressed having put his foot down a hole.
The group gently and very carefully led the man down from the popular climbing rock outcrop back to the road. They chose the easiest route and constantly reassured him all the way. The group also cared for the man’s dog.
A team member, whose day job is managing an outdoor education centre, was visiting the Roaches when he witnessed their good deeds. He was greatly impressed with the rapport that the youngsters had built up with the casualty and how well they were caring for him. He commented, “They did a sterling job and it was great to see the positive side of the younger generation. They also saved the rescue team a call-out.”
Buxton Mountain Rescue Team has been pleased to award the group “A Certificate of Merit” recognising their kind deeds.
